West Bengal voters have ‘Mamata’ for Modi wave, BJP gains momentum amid TMC-CPM fight

Kolkata: Deemed to be one of the most politically crucial states, West Bengal is witnessing a changed electoral ambience. In what one can make out from the 42 constituencies in the state, the Congress’ reach seems to be limited to Malda and Murshidabad, while talking about the mainstream contest, M factor (Modi factor) appears to be gaining prominence amid the fight between Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).

Kolkata: With 42 constituencies, West Bengal is the third largest state in India in terms of Lok Sabha seats after Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. It is probably one of those fewer states where the major national parties like Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) don’t enjoy a significant ‘clout’. Things are, however, looking changed this time around as the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) will have to deal with ‘Modi wave’ apart from its arch-rival Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) during the Lok Sabha polls.
