Palghar: Eleven people, including a five- year-old girl, were killed and 17 others injured when a vehicle collided head-on with a bus on Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway here in the wee hours on Monday, police said.

Patna: Five Bihar districts were put on flood alert on Monday over fears of a dramatic rise in the water level of the Gandak river, officials said.Massive landslides caused by repeated earthquakes have blocked the Kali Gandaki river at Benibazar in Myagdi district of Nepal creating an artificial lake, officials said warning that the bursting of this lake may cause the water level in the Gandak river in Bihar to rise dramatically.

Kaushambi: Ten bogies of a Jammu-bound train derailed here on Monday, killing three persons including a woman on the spot and injuring nine and affecting train traffic on Allahabad-Kanpur route. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu ordered an inquiry into the cause of the derailment and announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the passenger who died.
