Clearing several pending proposals, Delhi government on Monday simplified the procedure of giving caste certificates, especially to the Balmiki community. In the meeting of the state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, it was decided that government would empower the MPs and MLAs to verify important documents in this regard. They can hold inquiry at the local level only if the family of a Balmiki Community is applying for the caste certificate for the first time.
