Severe cold wave claimed seven more lives in Uttar Pradesh taking the toll this winter to 69. Two people lost their lives in Barabanki, one each in Gonda, Deoria, Ballia, Banda, and Hamirpur districts. According to Met office, maximum temperature continued to be below normal by 6 to 11 degrees Celsius in parts of the state.

Dehradun: With icy winds sweeping the state the Uttarakhand government has asked the District Magistrates to take measures to ensure that there are no deaths due to cold. Chandigarh: Cold conditions today prevailed in Punjab and Haryana with minimum temperatures hovering below normal level in various parts of both states. Ludhiana, the industrial hub of Punjab, turned out to be the coldest place in both states as it recorded a minimum temperature of 3.3 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal, an MeT department report said here.
