Colombo: Nearly 200 people were feared to have been buried alive in Sri Lanka after a devastating landslide triggered by rains destroyed the homes of mostly Indian-origin plantation workers, as heavy machinery was deployed on Thursday in the rescue operations involving the army.

Jammu: Pakistani rangers targeted 60 border outposts and over 80 villages in fresh mortar shelling and firing in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts along International Border. Three BSF soldiers were injured in the fresh firing at RS Pura sector here on Thursday. The Pakistani troops continued unabated firing for the fourth consecutive day along the IB injuring five civilians in overnight firing and shelling even as a "massive" reply was being given from the Indian side.
