Dehradun: With the very first spell of monsoon showers damaging nearly half a dozen roads and bridges in Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts, choppers were today flown to the affected areas with a team of senior officials to assess conditions and ensure safety of Chardham pilgrims.

New Delhi: The Centre today announced an additional package of Rs 2,437 crore for reconstruction and rehabilitation of flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, in a joint press conference, said Rs 2,602 crore had already been released last year by the government to help the state in relief and rehabilitation work.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand has joined the list of states to ban the sale of Maggi with samples of the popular food product failing laboratory tests. "A decision to ban the sale of Maggi was taken late last night in public interest by the Food Security Department as 2 of a 300 odd samples of the food product failed laboratory tests," Principal Secretary Health Om Prakash told reporters.
