Srinagar: 'Might is right' seems to be the rule of the game as relief distribution in flood-affected areas of Kashmir has been hit by chaos due to lack of civil administration on ground. Scuffles between various groups of flood victims have been witnessed in Mehjoor Nagar, Rambagh, Jawahar Nagar and some other areas of the city over rice bags and other material being brought by relief trucks.

It may be mentioned here that after eleven days, life seems to be returning to normalcy in Kashmir but the extent of damage caused by devastating floods is still unfolding.

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology on Monday inaugurated the Automatic Weather Observing System (AWOS) at Katra town, base camp to Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir. The AWOS will help weathermen to check weather on a real time basis and help them to alert authorities in the event on any natural calamity in the state.
