R S Pura (Jammu and Kashmir): More than six decades have passed since the line dividing the state of Jammu and Kashmir into Indian side and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) was drawn, forcing thousands to take shelter on this side of the border, many of whom complained they are living in pitiable conditions because of government apathy.

Dehradun: With icy winds sweeping the state the Uttarakhand government has asked the District Magistrates to take measures to ensure that there are no deaths due to cold. Chief Minister Harish Rawat reviewed the cold situation in the state through a video-conference, an official release issued on Friday said.

Lucknow/Dehradun:  Intense cold wave conditions accompanied by snowfall have left 24 people dead in Uttarakhand, officials said on  Thursday. Officials in the hill state of Uttarakhand said two persons have died in Haldwani, three in Nainital, six in Bhimtal and Bageshwar areas, while nearly 13 died due to the inclement weather in the Kumaon region since Tuesday.
