In a bid to protect Hindon river from pollution and encroachments, the government has decided to grow plants alongside the river banks. Plans are afoot to carry out the plantation drive on large scale along the river.

Bangalore: Continuing their protests against the Supreme Court's direction for releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, a farmer in Mandya on Wednesday attempted to commit suicide. Karnataka, in compliance with the top court's direction, on Wednesday morning released Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. As soon as the news spread, protesters intensified the agitation.
