Srinagar : A youth was on Wednesday killed and two persons were injured when security forces allegedly opened fire to chase away stone-pelting protesters here, after which curfew was imposed in parts of the city.

Jammu: Aiming to form government in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time, the BJP announced to support Sajjad Ghani Lone-led People's Conference in the ongoing assembly polls in the state. Earlier the saffron party extended support to the People's Revolutionary Party.

Vadodara: 113 Indian fishermen, who were released from Pakistan jails on June 19, have arrived here. The fishermen, who were apprehended by Pakistan marine security in the last one to three years from Arabian sea in Kutch District, bordering Pakistan, arrived at Vadodara from Amritsar last night and embarked to their respective villages on the same night.

As the major stakeholders –the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress have announced the names of candidates to be fielded in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, the resentment among the party workers have further widened over denial of tickets to their kin. Owing to rising discord both the parties made last minute changes. The Congress changed 15 names on last day so did the BJP.

With an aim to expose the prevailing corruption in the state, Congress is all geared up to use Right to Information (RTI) as a tool to target the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government. While addressing a press conference at party office, state Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi claimed the party will launch an RTI drive to expose misappropriation of funds by the various government departments.

Patna: Four Janata Dal-United (JD-U) legislators on Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party here. The legislators, suspended from the party for six years, joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister Rajeev Pratap Rudy and state party president Mangal Pandey.
