The UP government’s ambitious project to promote girl child education in the state by opening Kasturba Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalayas (KGBV) seems to have lost its sheen. Apparently, 18 such schools spread in different divisions of the state have failed to attract even the expected number of students.

The scarcity of fund has marred the state government’s ambitious project to promote education among girl child through Kasturba Gandhi Awasiya Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in Mewat district. According to reports, despite the fund worth crores of rupees being granted for construction of the school buildings three years ago, the ongoing work was left in midway due to shortage of funds.
