A CBI court on Saturday awarded one to six years imprisonment to 34 people in a multi-million animal husbandry department scam known as the fodder scam. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court of D.C. Ray also slapped fines of Rs.10,000 to Rs.300,000 on the convicts.

A CBI court on Thursday convicted 69 people and acquitted 16 in the multi-crore fodder scam. Twenty-nine people have been sentenced to one to three years imprisonment and fined between Rs.25,000 and Rs.2 lakh.

The Jharkhand High Court has granted former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad's plea to allow him to produce 70 witnesses in a special CBI court in connection with the multi-crore fodder scam. Rejecting the special CBI court's directive to Prasad in March that he could produce only 15 witnesses, Justice RR Prasad allowed him to produce 70 witnesses in the case pertaining to alleged fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 34 crore, which was unearthed when he was the Chief Minister of undivided Bihar.
