New Delhi: A TMC minister in West Bengal on Monday sparked a controversy after one of his security guards was caught on tape while tying his shoe laces. Rachpal Singh, the Minister for Planning and Development in Mamata Banerji government, was at the state secretariat for a tribute to celebrated artist Ramkinkar Baij, when his personal guard was seen tying his laces.

Patna: Allaying fears regarding its stand on Article 370, which guarantees a special constitutional status to Jammu and Kashmir, BJP on Monday said "status quo on it will be maintained". "The status quo on Article 370 will be maintained. .... This is a constitutional matter and any kind of change in it cannot be brought in the Parliament," BJP's national spokesperson M J Akbar told reporters here.

Kaushambi: Ten bogies of a Jammu-bound train derailed here on Monday, killing three persons including a woman on the spot and injuring nine and affecting train traffic on Allahabad-Kanpur route. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu ordered an inquiry into the cause of the derailment and announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh to the kin of the passenger who died.

Patna: Five Bihar districts were put on flood alert on Monday over fears of a dramatic rise in the water level of the Gandak river, officials said.Massive landslides caused by repeated earthquakes have blocked the Kali Gandaki river at Benibazar in Myagdi district of Nepal creating an artificial lake, officials said warning that the bursting of this lake may cause the water level in the Gandak river in Bihar to rise dramatically.
