Hyderabad: Buckling under protests and street violence in Bengaluru, the government yesterday rolled back its order tightening rules for withdrawal of provident fund money, within hours of keeping it in abeyance for three more months.

New Delhi: Stung by all-round criticism, the government yesterday rolled back its decision to lower interest rate on provident fund deposits to 8.7 percent for 2015-16 and agreed to fix it at 8.8 percent, the third EPF-related roll back since March.

Government decides to pay 8.75 percent interest on Provident Fund for current fiscal

New Delhi: Over five crore provident fund subscribers governed by the EPFO will get 8.75 percent interest on their deposits for the current fiscal. The Finance Ministry has ratified the rate for 2014-15, after a decision was taken to retain the interest payout at this level by the Central Board of Trustees of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, sources said.

New Delhi: Nepal on Saturday sought technical cooperation from India for extending Provident Fund in organized and unorganized sectors in that country. A delegation led by Secretary of Nepal Prime Minister and Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Nepal chief Durga Nidhi Sharma met Union Labour Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and held deliberations on the issue.
