Chennai: A few hours after Sri Lankan Navy arrested 50 fishermen from Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking immediate release of total 93 fishermen and 62 boats, presently in the custody of the neighbouring nation.

Madurai: Madras High Court Bench in Madurai on Friday dismissed a petition by a private firm operating a toll plaza on a national high way seeking a direction to Tamil Nadu Government-owned state transport corporations (TNSTCs) to pay "toll arrears" of Rs 4.14 crore following restructuring of rates, saying the matter was beyond its jurisdiction.
