Today, such help is likely to come from online methods of matchmaking. But online dating, according to new Northwestern University research, depends largely on ineffective algorithms and profiles for finding potential love interests.

People living in the countryside are far more likely to find true love than city dwellers, according to a new study. It discovered 77 per cent of adults living in rural Britain have found their soulmate - compared with 48 per cent in urban areas.
