Lucknow: Two more legislators -- one each from the Congress and the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) -- on Friday switched loyalties and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Pradeep Chowdhary, Congress legislator from Saharanpur, joined the BJP in the presence of state unit president Keshav Prasad Maurya.

According to Central Water Commission (CWC), the Ganga is flowing above the danger marks at Fafamau and Chhatnag (both in Allahabad) besides in Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia.

Rome: The number of people killed in the earthquake that devastated parts of central Italy on Wednesday rose to 247 on Thursday morning, regional and national officials said. The Civil Protection department in Rome said a tally by local officials showed that 190 people were killed Rieti province and 57 in the province of Ascoli Piceno.
