New Delhi: Lap 56-60: Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull is the winner of first Indian Grand Prix. Followed by Jenson Button of Mclaren and Fernando Alonso in his red Ferrari finished third.

Mark Webber in his Red Bull finished fourth and the speeding sensation Michael Schumacher finished fifth.
Indian Formula One team Sahara Force India managed ninth with Sutil and 13th spot with Di Resta.

As Vettel begins his final lap, Webber has closed to a second behind Alonso. Vettel does the fastest lap and takes the podium.
Last Two laps. Vettel is cruising for the podium. Button doing the same behind him. Webber steals the fastest lap and is 1.5 sec behind Alonso.

Petrov close behind Perez for 11th spot. Sutil is just 1.4 sec ahead of both, with di Resta 19.3s back. Meanwhile Senna takes a pit stop from ninth and rejoins in 12th behind his team-mate.

Webber now 2.3s behind Alonso and looks to have no response. Senna showing good pace right now as he tries to pull away from Sutil ahead of his final pit stop.

Formula One Special

Lap 51-55: Vettel is on fire, showing his pace, another fastest lap and now 5 seconds clear. The eyes will be on Webber chasing Alonso, as Schumacher pulls away from Rosberg.

Vettel again with a fastest lap of the race, he now leads by 4.1 seconds. Senna in ninth needs to pit again, this will promote Sutil, Perez and Petrov. Di Resta is a long way out of touch in 13th.

Radio message from Mercedes to Schumacher: "You have Nico behind you 1.5 seconds, you are free to race, keep it clean". While Hamilton in seventh and has no answer to the Mercedes speeding pair.

Webber in red Bull closes to within 2 seconds of Alonso in Ferrari. Rosberg in Mercerdes also closes up on team-mate Schumacher quickly, the gap 1.3 sec now.

Schumacher takes a pit stop now, trying to jump his team-mate Rosberg. He is now fifth, but will need a lap to get his tyres up to the temperature.

Lap 46-50: Button is now narrowing the gap between him and Vettel, who seems to have got his tyres up to temperature now, 2.7s the gap.
 
Button gained a lot of time bringing the gap down from five seconds to 2.8 s between him and Vettel.

Button takes a pit stop for the hard tyre and rejoins alongside Karthikeyan. Alguersuari pits from seventh spot, along with Vettel who runs a bit wide entering the pits.

Rosberg and Hamilton takes a pit stop. The lead is now 4.8 sec and Vettel just appears to be managing the gap.

Lap 41-45: McLaren could be trying to get Vettel to come in. The gap is 4.9s at the front.

Button responds himself with a lap half a second quicker. Hamilton is ready for a pit stop as he is struggling to make an impression on the Mercedes pair in front of him.

Button again quicker on the previous lap and is 5 seconds behind Vettel.

Webber has been told have a go at Alonso while his tyres are cold. Button with a very fast lap 1:28.5s and taking 1.4s out of the leader on that last lap. Gap is down to 5.3s.

Lap 36-40: Button's middle sector very slow on the last lap. Alonso pits for the hard tyre because Webber has shown good pace on it. Alonso rejoins just ahead of Webber at third spot.

Vettel is clear of Button by six seconds. McLaren was marginally quicker on the last lap. Petrov has passed Kobalainen for 12th. Di Resta is now catching Kovalainen.

Taking pit will be hard for Webber and Alonso’s Ferrari could be on for a podium now.

Alonso right up behind Webber now, the gap down to a second. Webber has to take a pit stop to put on the hard tyres.

Schumacher is told that he is catching his team-mate and showing very good pace

Lap 31-35: Vettel leads by 5.8 sec now. Alonso with a slow lap drops behind Webber, who is in pace with the leader.

Yellow Flag: Now Massa has a problem with his front left suspension. He has to park the car and is out of the race.

Vettel now leads by five seconds, while Alonso is two seconds behind Webber.

Race Leader Vettel stretches his lead over Button to 4.5 sec. Alonso again run the fastest lap, while Massa pits for hard tyres and a new front wing.

Massa takes his penalty. Hamilton passes Alguersuari in to turn one using DRS. Massa rejoined just behind Schumacher, so he is the next man Hamilton will catch.

Lap 26-30: Drive through penalty for Felipi Massa for causing a collision with Hamilton. Vettel with another fastest lap, he's 3.7s ahead of Button, with Webber 7.2s back.

A fastest lap from Alonso, he is now three seconds behind Webber.

Massa is back on pace, but his team radios say he has a problem on the downshift. Hamilton on the back of Alguersuari for eighth after taking a pit stop to change his damaged nose.

Buemi stops with a blown engine on the outside of turn five and Sedastian Vettel's lead is now up to 3.6 ses over Jeanson Button.

Lap 21-25: Hamilton was trying to overtake Massa. Massa ran wide at turn one allowing Hamilton to close up but he comes in back and Hamilton’s car’s nose hit Massa pushing him out of the track. The incident is under investigation.


Button almost matches Vettel on the last lap. Vettel dipping under 1m 30s for the first time.
 
Alonso quickest of the cars behind on that lap and Hamilton right behind Massa. He'll used DRS but can't quite cross put a move on the Ferrari

Kovalainen of Lotus pits from tenth place. Button pitting a lap before Vettel has worked well, the gap is now 3.1 sec. Hamilton in sixth is 15.6 sec off the leader and none of the top six is within a second of another car.

Schumacher using DRS passes Senna - who hasn't taken a pit stop yet.

Lap 16-20: Vettel now pits too. His lead is very comfortable. Massa sets the fastest lap in fifth place, with Hamilton closer to him than before. 

Button takes a pit stop and retains his second place comfortably. Schumacher and Buemi are also in the pit.

Massa pits at the end of Lap 17 and almost collides with Ferrari team-mate Alonso on the exit. Button matches the leading pace, so the gap remains 4.3s. He's now 3.3s ahead of Webber.

Lap 11-15: Buemi is now all over at the back of Sutil and cruises past using DRS. Alguersuari uses DRS to pass Sutil around the outside of turn four.

Button with a third consecutive fastest lap. The gap is down to 4.2s. Webber 1.8s further back, with Alonso matching pace on that lap.

Button takes 0.3s out of Vettel with another fastest lap. Perez dives up the inside of di Resta in to turn one but runs wide and di Resta regains the place.

Button took the fastest lap, just 0.060s quicker than Vettel. Massa now on the leading pace too.

Lap 7-10: Button matched race leader Vettel's pace on that last lap along with Webber.


Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari's pit radio: "Keep pushing Jaime. We have to pass him. We have to pass him. We are losing time. You've got get passed him. You can do it."

Hamilton seems to be lacking pace and in unable to match those ahead of him, 0.8s a lap slower than Vettel and 0.7s slower than Button. Massa doing a good job holding on to Alonso.

Rosberg and Schumacher seem to be running on their own pace on 7th and 8th, unable to match the top six but quicker than all those behind them.

LAP 6: Vettel's lead is now up to 4.2 sec. Force India’s Di Resta has also pitted in the Force India and rejoined in 18th place.

Lap 5: Button has to defend robustly against Webber in to turn four once again. Button on the inside and Webber on the outside. Alonso keeping pace, while Massa had jumped Hamilton at the start and remains over a second behind the Ferrari.

LAP 3: Vettel leads by two seconds, with Webber close behind Jeanson Button. Glock, Trulli and Barrichello all go to pit. Kobayashi who was involved in the first-corner incident, is out.

LAP 1-2: Lewis Hamilton who started the race from the fifth spot showed his driving skills to overtake the cars ahead of him, but failed to maintain his new place.

Alonso on the third spot goes wide and allows Button to get through him. Button then works his way past Webber for second spot

Thers was plenty of contact and spins at the back of the grid, Barrichello, Trulli and Kobayashi involved  

Good afternoon and welcome to the live coverage of inaugural Indian Grand Prix at the Buddh International circuit in Grater Noida.

Indian cricketing maestro Sachin Tendulkar will flag off the race.

Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan have reached the F1 circuit, along with him is Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh is also seen.

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel will start from the pole position for today Indian Grand Prix while Sahara Force India’s driver Adrian Sutil who qualified for the eighth spot on the grid will look to score some points.

India’s Narain Karthikeyan did well to finish in 22nd position, just behind Hispania teammate Daniel Ricciardo.

Vettel, running on soft tyres, clocked 1:24.178 to secure 13th pole position of the 2011 season, pipping McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton by 0.296 secs Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber (1:24.508) was third Hamilton will actually start from fifth position due a three-place grid penalty for ignoring a flag warning.
