Till February in the current fiscal, the amount of revenue earned by SEBI stood at Rs 390.90 crore, higher than Rs 363.85 crore posted in the preceding fiscal, Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha said in a written reply to Lok Sabha.
     
The regulator reported a revenue of Rs 338.44 crore and Rs 335.74 crore during 2012-13 and 2011-12 respectively, as per an official document of SEBI.
     
It earns revenues from offer documents, fee from mutual funds, stock brokers, alternative investment fund and investment advisers.
     
As per SEBI's document on mid-term review of budget estimates, the regulator expects an income surplus of more than Rs 156 crore after taking into account operational as well as capital expenses in the current financial year.
