Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir police on Friday tightened security in the Valley including major pilgrimage centers to protect any untoward incident in view of the Id-ul-Fitar.

State DGP, Kuldeep Hooda told the reporters, “Security in major religious places including Hajartabal, Jamia Masjid , Idgah and other important destinations in the valley has been tightened to check movement of miscreants during  the festive season.”

The decision to this effect was taken in the review meeting between DGP Hooda and senior officers of Para-Military Forces.

Lal Chowk, Residency Road, Polo View and one side of Azad Marg have been declared as ‘no vehicle zone’ and their routes will be diverted for public vehicles.

Close-circuit cameras have been installed and policemen in civil uniforms have been deployed in sensitive areas. Parking rules have also been tightened.

Check posts have been erected at various locations to regulate the movement of vehicles in the Valley.

Moreover, shopkeepers have been asked to keep an eye on suspicious elements and avoid parking of vehicles in front of their shops.
