Ranchi: With the rejection of the defence related proposal of the state government by the Centre, the security forces in Jharkhand will now have to take on the Naxals without extra protection like bullet proof jackets, helmets and armoured vehicles.

Citing reasons for the rejection, the Centre contended that the proposal was not drafted as per the describe parameters.

Moreover, the Jharkhand government has not yet submitted the details of funds allocated by the Centre for the financial year 2009-10 and 2011-11.

It is worth mentioning that the state received Rs 36 and Rs 45 crore in in 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively for procuring defence equipments.

However, the central government has directed the Jharkhand government to prepare the proposal once again, taking the state police headquarters into the loop.

The home department will now have to work on the proposal prepared by the state police before forwarding it to the Centre.
