Ghaziabad: Security is being stepped up here with inter-state boarders being sealed to prevent the entry of unwanted people into the district which goes to polls in the sixth and penultimate phase of elections in Uttar Pradesh on February 28.

Para military and police personnel will be stationed at the borders located in the district from February 27 midnight till the conclusion of voting on February 28 evening to check the entry of people, District Magistrate Aparna Upadhya told reporters here.

There will be a ban on sale of liquor in the district from Monday evening till the end of voting, she said.

All sensitive booths and polling centres will be under constant vigil through CCTV cameras and voters will be allowed to exercise their franchise only after they produce proper documents, said Upadhya, who is also the chief district election officer.

Nobody other than voters will be allowed to enter the polling booths and entry will be checked before they come within 200 metre radius of the polling centre, she said, adding that candidates will be allowed to check the polling but their supporters will not be allowed inside the booths.
