New Delhi: Following the heavy rush of passengers during the ongoing festival season, the Railways has decided to enhance security arrangements at major stations in the national capital.

The Railway authority has planned to install 13 new luggage scanners at all major stations in New Delhi, out which 4 each will installed at New Delhi, Old Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations and one at Anand Vihar railway station. This will facilitate faster scanning of luggage during rush hour.

During the Commonwealth Games the Railway administration has installed similar scanners at the major station in the capital but few were removed as soon as the games were over. Due to which problems like long queues and delay in luggage checking during the rush hour are being faced by travelers.

Besides, luggage scanners, CCTV’s will also be installed to monitor movements of passengers, a senior Northern Railway official said.
