Dehradun: Vigilance officials have arrested a senior government official in Uttarakhand while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs one lakh from a Delhi-based entrepreneur.
Karna Singh Haldar, the manager of Tehri district industrial centre at Dhalwala, was arrested outside his office yesterday following a complaint by the entrepreneur Mahesh
Joshi, vigilance officials said on Wednesday.
Joshi had lodged a complaint against Haldar alleging that the official had demanded a bribe from him in return for clearing a subsidy of Rs 18,69,035 granted to him by the Union government under a tourism promotion scheme for building a resort at Shivpuri, Tehri.

 The amount was the first instalment of the 35 per cent subsidy granted to Gupta under the scheme, the sources said.
