The stock exchanges are conducting a special live trading session on Saturday as the National Stock Exchange (NSE) is testing its software.

The sensex resumed slightly lower at 21,752.44 and moved in a range of 21,762.38 and 21,726.42 before quoting at 21,728.66 at 1130hrs, showing a loss of 25.09 points or 0.12 pct from its last close.

The NSE 50-share Nifty also moved down by 2.75 points 0.04 percent to 6,490.45 at 1130hrs. Major losers were Hindalco Ind 1.06 pct, Dr Reddy's Lab 0.56 pct, Infosys 0.40 pct and Axis Bank 0.39 pct while gainers were M&M 0.78 pct, Sun Pharma 0.62 pct, Bharti Airtel 0.56 pct and Hero Motocorp 0.35 pct.

US stocks dropped on Friday pressured by a sell-off in the health-care sector, but major equity indexes still posted solid weekly gains.

Meanwhile, Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 4,222.10 crore on Friday as per provisional data from the stock exchanges.
