The 30-share index, which had lost over 417 points in the previous three sessions, fell further by 54.32 points, or 0.26 percent, to 20,768.45. Consumer durable, auto and oil and gas sector stocks led the fall.
    
Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved down by 15.85 points, or 0.27 per cent, to 6,170.40. Brokers said sustained selling by funds amid a weak trend at other Asian bourses mainly influenced the sentiment.
    
In the Asian region, Japan's Nikkei Index fell by 1.42 percent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was down by 0.73 percent in morning trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.97 percent lower in Thursday trade.
