The National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 41.70 points, or 0.69 percent, to 6,087.55. Brokers said fresh buying by funds amid a firming trend on other Asian bourses mainly buoyed the trading sentiment.

Among other Asian markets, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose by 0.72 percent, while Japan's Nikkei was up by 0.08 percent in morning trade on Friday.
