The 30-share barometer, which had gained 167.30 points in the previous four sessions, rose further by 42.66 points, or 0.21 percent, to 20,419.22 with realty, metal and auto sector stocks leading the rise.
The National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved up by 12.25 points, or 0.20 percent, to 6,075.45.
Brokers said sustained buying by funds as well as retail investors amid a firming trend on other Asian bourses mainly boosted the trading sentiment.
Among other Asian markets, Japan's Nikkei rose by 1.24 percent while Hong Kong's Hang Seng up by 9.90 points in morning trade on Monday. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 1.06 percent higher in Friday's trade.
