Paris: Virginie Razzano, who sent Serena Williams crashing to the worst Grand Slam defeat of her career, was knocked out of the French Open on Thursday, losing in straight sets to Dutch player Arantxa Rus.

Razzano went down 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) to the world number 88, just two days after she rocked the sport by beating Williams in the first round here.

Rus, who beat Kim Clijsters at the same stage in 2011, will face either German 25th seed Julia Goerges or British qualifier Heather Watson for a place in the last 16.
