Ranchi: Services added four more gold on Tuesday taking their tally to 49 gold, 36 silver and 27 bronze as they consolidated their top position on the 10th day of the ongoing National Games.

They are set to improve their medal count from the last edition of National Games.

They have won 13 gold medals more than second-placed Manipur with just four days remaining in the competition.

Services had won 59 gold, 46 silver and 37 bronze medals in Guwahati National Games in 2007.

Manipur girls shine in archery

Manipur girls dominated the individual as well as team championships shooting gold medals at the National Games at JRD Tata Sports complex on Tuesday.

While the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) won the men's team championship, Assam clinched the gold in the men's individual event.

K Prabhahini Devi of Manipur won three straight sets and gathered six points to claim the first place while host Jharkhand's Jayalaxmi Laguri finished second with four set points win.

Th Ishembi Devi of Manipur bagged bronze.

Manipur archers also won bronze medals in the men and women's individual as well as men's team championship.

The Manipur team-comprising Th Ishembi Devi, K Prabhahini Devi, M Sanjita Devi and S Nirmala Devi-scored a total 212 points to be first in the team championship while the Assam combination of Kamini Boro, Pallabi Boro, Anima Basumatary and Anjali Brahma scored 184 points to grab the silver.

Jharkhand boxers dominate in women's quarters

Host Jharkhand dominated the quarter-final round of the women's boxing event by winning all the bouts.

Jharkhand also registered win with Amit Karki (69kg) drubbing Geetanand of Himachal Pradesh 6-0 to sail into the next round.

In the women's section, Aruna Mishra (69kg) outclassed Lal Ramliani of Mizoram to enter the semifinals.

Besides Jharkhand, Haryana was the other team to register victories in the men's and women's section of the quarterfinal.

Among the men, nine-time national champion Dilbag Singh (69kg) of Haryana defeated Lakhbir of Punjab 3-2 to enter the
Punjab and TN basket gold

Punjab men and Tamil Nadu women won the gold medals in their respective basketball final matches of the 34th National Games.

Punjab outclassed Uttarkhand 97-57 while Tamil Nadu defeated Chhattisgarh 79-48 to finish at the top of the podium.

In the play-off matches for bronze medals, Services men defeated Tamil Nadu 81-68, while Delhi girls beat Maharashtra 79-59.

Ratnika, Rastogi reach finals of tennis event

Ratnika Batra defeated third seed Prerna Bhambri to set up a women's singles final clash against top seed Zainab Ali Sajjad in the tennis competition.

The men's singles summit clash on Wednesday will be a battle between the two top ranked players Karan Rastogi and Mithun Murali.

In a battle between the two Delhi girls, 11th seed Ratnika caused a flutter of sorts when she upset the higher ranked Prerna 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.

The other half saw Andhra girl Zainab smoothly sailing into the final with a 6-3, 6-1 thrashing of Maharashtra's fourth seed Nupur Kaul.

Men's singles top seed Rastogi of Maharashtra faced a strong challenge from seventh seed Shokeen before wraping the issue 6-3 3-6 6-3.

Second seed Mithun Murali of Tamil Nadu averted a first set deficit to get the better of Ashutosh Singh of Delhi 3-6 7-5 6-4.
