Raipur: Seven Naxals, including three who were carrying reward on their heads, were arrested in a forest area in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Friday.
 
Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhagat said the seven ultras were arrested in a joint operation by the district police and the jawans of the Border Security Force in the forest area at Malmeta under Tadoki police station limits.
 
Bhagat said the security forces had received a tip-off that a group of Naxals was in the forests at Malmeta and Mohurpat villages  and were about to hold a meeting.
    
When the police tried to cordon off the area, some of the Maoists managed to escape but seven of them were arrested, he said. Three of them, namely, Premlal, Gannuram and Ramnath were carrying reward of Rs 4,000 each on their head.
