New Delhi: A joint survey conducted by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has exposed that potable water supplied to households in the national capital is getting contaminated with sewer water.

The report submitted to DJB stated that there are 67 such places where water pipes and sewer lines lay side by side with leakages. Out of 67, only six leaking points have been fixed yet, sources said.

Leaving some colonies, DJB has the responsibility to supply water across Delhi. The DJB also looks after sewer lines in the state except for some colonies of Delhi Development Authority.

Taking tough stand against the supplying contaminated water, MCD had collected sample of potable water supplied by DJB in last March. According to the sample test, 18 percent of the supplied water was found contaminated.
