According to reports, Shah Rukh was approached by director duo Abbas Mustan who tried their best to convince the superstar for playing the negative role in the third installment of Race 3.

A tabloid quoted a source as saying, "Shah Rukh has worked with the director duo during his early years in Baazigar, in which he had played a grey character but he has passed up on the offer this time. SRK politely told the directors that he didn't feel the audience would accept him in such a dark role for now."

Interestingly in his initial days, Shah Rukh Khan was appreciated for playing negative role in movies like 'Baazigar', 'Dard', 'Ram Jaane' and 'Anjaam' , most of which were quite successful at box office.

Shah Rukh has quite convincingly played the role of an obsessive lover at the start of his career. However, soon after he switched to the image of the guy-next-door.
