Los Angeles, Jan 11 (Agencies): Popstar Shakira splits from her partner Antonio de La Rua after staying together for 11 years.

The Colombia-born singer announced her split from de la Rua, her agent and the son of former Argentine President Fernando de la Rua, on her website and said that it was "temporary."

"Since August 2010, we made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship. Throughout this time we have continued to work together hand-in-hand, have remained close and have kept the details absolutely private until now," wrote the 33-year-old singer.

"We view this period of separation as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we continue to be partners in our business and professional lives," added the 'Hips Don't Lie' hitmaker.

In October 2009, Shakira told Rolling Stone that, "My body feels like it is asking to reproduce, to have a huge belly and carry babies."

Despite the split, de la Rua, 37, will continue to be her agent and the former couple have announced that they will not talk about the relationship in any interviews or making more statements.
