New Delhi: JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Thursday favoured veteran BJP leader LK Advani’s name for NDA’s prime ministerial candidate in the wake of 2014 general elections.

“Advani ji is the best candidate and his age should not be used to discount his candidature,” he said.

Yadav’s statement came a day after the dates for Gujarat Assembly Elections were announced. It is no secret that if BJP strongman Narendra Modi wins, his eyes will be set on Delhi for the 2014 polls.

Earlier, some media reports had suggested that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was against Narendra Modi’s candidature for this post.

Shiv Sena, another ally of NDA, had complicated the matter by backing Sushma Swaraj for the post.
