Udham Singh Nagar: The rise in water level of Sharda Sagar Dam has flooded the adjoining Sissaiyabadh village. Over 600 acres of sugarcane and paddy crop have already been destroyed, while 250 families of the village have been trapped in the flooded area.

In addition, water has entered over a dozen houses, whereas half a dozen slums have been submerged in floods. Boats are being used to commute between the village and the main road, while children are unable to go to schools and the livestock is also facing food crisis.

At least 2,000 people of 250 families of the village have been badly affected by the floods.

Gram Pradhan Sajivan said, “More than 600 acres of sugarcane and paddy has been submerged in the dam water and there is no system of pumping out water from the flooded fields.”

He added, water logging started a week ago but has now crossed the danger mark.

Meanwhile, the villagers are praying for the God’s mercy as no civic authorities have taken note of the situation.
