Ambala: To rescue the Indian railway from losses, the Railway Board has released orders to offer discount only on the basic fare of concessional reserved tickets of Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Duranto, Jan Shatabdi and few other trains. This will come into effect from coming April.

The reserved railway ticket fare includes basic fare, reservation charge, superfast charge, safety charge, service tax and other charges. Discounts are given for different components of reserved ticket fare of these trains. The fare of these trains includes additional superfast and reservation charge.
Earlier, the passengers used to get concession on catering, safety and other charges as well which will not be the case from now onwards.

Now, charges will be taken separately on various services offered on the reserved tickets of Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Duranto and Jan Shatabdi and concessions will be offered only on the basic fare. The passengers will now have to pay an additional amount of Rs 80 to Rs 100 on their tickets.

The Chief Public Relations Officers, Northern Railway Neeraj Sharma has confirmed the order from the Railway Board.
