"This election is important and I feel we are heading for a change. I think we need a stable government under the leadership of a 'Dabangg', vivacious and action hero as PM,” Sinha said on Sunday while being conferred with the IIFA lifetime achievement award for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.

The award was jointly presented to him by his daughter Sonakshi Sinha and Anil Kapoor.

Sinha, who has acted in more than 200 Hindi movies besides Punjabi and Bangla cinema, dedicated the recognition to the people of his hometown Patna.

"Patna, my birth place, is my strength as well as weakness. I am here today only because of love and affection of my people," Sinha said.

Shatrughan started the speech with his trademark dialogue 'Khamosh'.
"I am thankful to IIFA and the audience for their love and appreciation. With all humility I accept this award. I feel the lifetime achievement award means there are still miles for me to go ahead," he said.
