New Delhi: Reiterating the motto behind trifurcation of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said the division would prove to be in the interest of Delhi and its citizens. She cleared that the Congress and the BJP are in favour of the decision.
Dikshit, who had earlier strongly pushed for the trifurcation move of the MCD, expressed confidence that the new municipal bodies would be able to work in close cooperation with the Delhi government.

"It is for the residents of Delhi to decide that the new municipal bodies are led by party with development agenda," said Dikshit.

Addressing a meeting at Karol Bagh on Sunday, Dikshit said, “The MCD has failed to fulfill the expectations of the locals. Presently, the Urban Local Body lacks efficiency and a proper work culture. It faces difficulty in meeting the requirements of 97 percent population of the national capital. There was a total mess and nothing was moving in the right direction.”

Claiming that three new municipalities would be able to bring civic amenities at the doorstep of the people, she further added that the people of Delhi have lost their confidence in the present municipal body due to its inefficiency and failure to perform even basic duty of cleaning the city. She appealed the electorate to vote for the Congress for the development of the city.

The elections to the three civic agencies – North, South and East Delhi municipalities would be held on April 15 and the election code of conduct would come into force from Monday.
