New Delhi: After being trounced by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Delhi Municipal polls, the Congress with an aim to bounce back in assembly elections has started making “necessary” changes in its poll team.

As per the sources in Congress, a major rejig both in the party and Delhi government is on the cards in the wake of civic polls debacle and growing clamour to send some senior ministers to strengthen party organisation.

Sources also say that the possible reshuffle in the Union and Delhi Cabinet can pave the way for new faces from communities like Dalits, minorities, and OBCs along with people from Poorvanchal.

However, Delhi assembly elections are still one and half years away, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has started preparations to ensure her fourth consecutive win.  Recent meeting between CM and 41 Congress MLAs along with 29 party leaders who lost previous assembly elections has given indication that the party is pulling its socks for assembly polls in 2013.

Sources in the Congress say that the party is reviewing its poor showing in MCD polls. In the exercise, many leaders responsible for the rout may be shown the door.

Delhi Congress will also hand over the elaborate report to the party high command stating the reasons and chinks in the party which led to the grand old party’s second consecutive defeat in MCD elections.
