New Delhi: Shikhar Dhawan is a well known face in the domestic cricket since long. He started playing first class cricket in 2004. Since then, his biggest concern has been inconsistent form. However, after getting dream call from the Indian test team, Shikhar told that he will not let this opportunity slip from his hands this time.
The opening batsman also revealed the name of the person who has been pillar of strength during his challenging moments. She is none other than his wife Isha Agarwal. Isha’s parents had different nationalities- Indian Bengali and British. Isha was seen supporting Shikhar during the IPL games.
When Shikhar got selected, his elder daughter told him that she was proud of her father. On this Shikhar said that his daughter’s words bore a big importance for him. The Delhi based cricketer has been successful in learning few Bengali words from his wife as one of her parents were of Bengali origin.
Dhawan admitted that waiting for the call from selectors since long was a tough exercise for him. He denied holding any individual responsible for such a long delay in his selection in Test Team. Earlier, Shikhar was selected to play ODIs against West Indies. But due to bad performance, he failed to continue in the national team. Dhawan has scored 833 runs in the season with the help of four centuries. So far, he has scored 5679 runs in first class matches.
