Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has invited Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to participate in the ongoing Beti Bachao Abhiyan in the state.

In a letter to the Prime Minister on Saturday, Chouhan informed him about the campaign in the state, its aims and objectives.

Chouhan informed Singh that the state is conducting the campaign since October 5 to acknowledge the contribution of the girl and aware the common man about the declining sex ratio and its adverse effect on the society.

The Chief Minister also apprised Singh about the various state government schemes including Ladli Laxmi Yojana, Mukhaya Mantri Kanyadan Yojna and Gaon ki beti yojana.

Issues like declining sex ratio in the state, women empowerment, dowry system, infanticide, domestic violence and other ill-treatment with the girls will be discussed during the campaign.

The informers of any incident of female foeticide, sex determination test or any atrocities done against women will be awarded Rs 1 lakh by the state government. Arrangements for toll-free complain numbers have also been made under the campaign.
