Mumbai: After the warrior queen’s saga on Zee “Jhansi Ji Rani”, it’s time for Gujrati legend “Shobha Somnath Ki” bringing the 11th century story of the fearless Shobha, who challenged Afghan invader Mahmud of Ghazni to save Somnath Temple from being demolished.

It’s a fairy tale with all the elements of valour, romance, poetry, adventure, bravery, and fight for cultural identity and will replace Jhansi Ki Rani from June 20.

Child artist Ashnoor Kaur will be seen playing the protagonist Shobha. Yash Tonk makes his return on the small screen, while Sadashiv Amrapurkar will make his television debut as an evil tantrik. The cast also includes Amrita Raichand, Pankaj Dheer and Sudhir Dalvi.

The show is being shot on a huge set built on a sprawling plot of about 9 acres in Vapi, Gujarat. The eye-catching set which cost Rs.12 crore, includes a replica of Somnath temple and magnificent palaces. It is the fruitful effort of about 600 artisans working for six months.

It is written and directed by Vikas Kapoor and the set is a magnificient creation by Jayant Deshmukh, the renowned designer of various leading soaps.
