Dehradun: It seems that Team Anna’s first poll campaign in Haridwar did not go down well with the public as yet again a shoe was hurled at the Team on Saturday.

Centre committed for strong Lokpal: PM

Prominent Team Anna member, Arvind Khejriwal, was addressing a gathering here when the shoe was hurled, but it missed the target.

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand police has arrested the attacker. The man has been identified as Kishan Lal (35) who hails from Prem Nagar locality of Dehra Dun city.

Team Anna began its tour to sensitise the voters about the need for a strong Lokpal ahead of the Assembly elections from Uttarakhand.

The members of Team Anna maintain that they would not campaign against any party in the poll-bound states and their campaign will revolve around land acquisition and for a strong Lokpal and Lokayuktas.

“We are not for or against any political faction. Our fight is against the decaying political structure. This is the sole reason we are asking people to demand the parties for a strong Lokpal Bill so that they can get relief from corruption,” Team Anna had said earlier at a press conference.

Team Anna also accused all political parties of resorting to wooing voters on the basis of caste and religion.

"On the basis of religion and caste, the parties want to win votes and leave no stone unturned to use money and muscle power. They don't focus on real issues," senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan, Team Anna member, told the scribes.

A section of the audience, who were present at the meeting, however claimed the man managed to throw the shoe but it did not hit the intended target.
