Indore: Exasperated over the continuous problem of power supply in the holy city of Ujjain, the local shopkeepers have decided to boycott the officials of State Electricity Board and stop selling daily use consumer products to the department officials until condition of power supply in the city improves.

Staging their protest in a unique way, the local shopkeepers of Nagda have pasted posters mentioning names and pictures of the top officials of the Electricity Board across the city.

“The posters have been pasted at around 500 shops in the city. No domestic items will be sold to these officials if there is no electricity,” said a shopkeeper.

The posters also figure the pictures of Divisional Engineer DS Chouhan, Assistant Engineer Neha Shukla and Anil Nimborkar.

Warning to the local MLAs of a similar protest, Manoj Rathi, President, Nagda Grocery Trade Association, said “We have also approached the people’s representatives regarding the problem of power cuts here. If the condition does not improve by Diwali, we will paste posters of the MLAs also.”

Meanwhile, the electricity and water board officials are planning to take legal actions against the shopkeepers.
