New Delhi: With the political battle heating up in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress party is striving hard to gain lost ground by making Rahul Gandhi’s November 14 rally at Phulpur a grandeur. The leaders are using tooth and nail to exhibit their strength and generate a political fervour for the upcoming Assembly polls in the state.

In view of the scheduled date for the rally being two-weeks away, senior Congress leaders have chalked out a plan to make Congress General Secretary, Rahul Gandhi’s rally impactful. They have decided to launch district-wise campaign by holding public meetings.

While the Congress party is banking on this rally considering it as a formal launch of poll campaign, the party candidates who have been allotted tickets are considering it as an opportunity to show their strength.

In a meeting held a day before Diwali the strategy for the poll campaign was finalized. The meeting was attened by top party dignitaries including General Secretary Digvijay Singh, Union Coal Minister and UP election campaign committee chairperson Sriprakash Jaiswal, Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma, party MP Raj Babbar, Avinash Chandra Pandey, Perwaiz Hashmi.

Besides, it was also decided that the Central as well as the state leaders would head public rallies starting from November 1. The primary focus of these meets would be to motivate people and make Rahul’s rallies successful.

The Congress so far has declared the names of 165 candidates and it is expected that prior to the rally names of at least 225 candidates would be declared.
