New Delhi: Shunglu Committee, formed to probe the Commonwealth Games scam, has recommended that an annual fund should be set up for the maintenance of CWG stadiums. The report suggested the concerned sports agencies to deposit funds without any delay.

The panel also supported the idea of handing over the responsibility of these stadiums to Sports Authority of India (SAI).

Condition of the stadiums on which several crores of rupees were spent during the Games is worsening as no money is available in the coffers to maintain them.

Both the ministers and officials in Sports Ministry and Sports Authority of India (SAI) have remained silent over the issue.

Recently, Sports Minister Ajay Maken proposed that those stadiums which come under SAI, should be kept open for general public, schools and colleges.

It may be noted that besides SAI, the responsibility of these stadiums should also be handed over to Delhi Development Authority (DDA), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), All India Tennis Association (AITA), Delhi University and Jamia Milia Islamia.
