Sakshi was seen as her onscreen mother in a hit television serial ‘Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki’. In an interview recently, Sakshi defended Shweta Prasad and slammed media for keeping focus only on the actress and not on the high-profile businessmen who were also involved in the act.

Expressing her disappointment over the media hype, she said that she would love to see names of the businessmen clients involved in the crime so that their families and friends would get an insight into their recreational habits. Sakshi also described Shweta as a sweet and talented girl who used to wish her on every Mother’s Day.

Some other celebrities from TV and film industry took to Twitter to defend the 23-year-old actress. Filmmaker Nagesh Kuknoor tweeted, “My take on Shweta Prasad. Great actress (Iqbal). Sweet wonderful girl. Don't judge her and leave her be for god's sake!!!” Actor and director Mahesh Manjrekar wrote, “Shweta Prasad was a sweet innocent kid & a fine actor. She must have faced huge difficulties 4 her 2 be forced 2 do what she did. Spare her.” Television actress Shweta Kwatara also posted, “#ShwetaPrasad bn on my mind. She & d family must b suffering.Ys1 hs 2 bear d consequences of r actions bt it doesn't hv2 b a national affair.” She added, “Media handling of the Shweta Prasad case is disgraceful. It is cruel & wrong to expose an unfortunate girl like this." Actress Aditi Rao Hydari too tweeted recently saying, “A girl is in the news and in prison for prostitution, why not her high profile clients? We are so damn sexist... #Pathetic #FullOfMCP'S.”

Shweta was held in Hyderabad on August 31. She is currently lodged in a remand home.
