Haridwar: Expressing displeasure with the BJP-led Uttarakhand government over the issue of Gurudwara Gyan Godri here, the All India Sikh Conference (Babbar) has embarked upon uniting all the Sikh community members.

The Sikh Conference members have also appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to break the alliance with the BJP over this issue.

Lashing out at the state government, AISC president Gurcharan Singh Babbar said, “Last year, the Haridwar administration had ensured to sort out the matter during the festival of light, but so far no step has been taken in this regard.”

“The Gyan Godri issue is related with emotions of Sikh community. Ignoring the issue will be a historical blunder,” Babbar added.

He further informed that a Rosh Yatra, which will start from Golden Temple from November 7, will reach at Gurudwara Gyan Godri at Pauri on November 10.

The Gyan Godri which has a historical significance for the community is presently under the possession of the Bharat Scout and Guide. The community has been demanding to remove the office from the site.
