Amritsar: Punjab government would introduce a 'single window system' for approving new projects of up to Rs 5 crore instantly to make the state industry-friendly, state's Trade and Industry Minister Anil Joshi said on Friday.

Addressing a gathering of leading state industrialists, including small scale industrialists, Joshi said the state government was committed to bring overall development in the industrial sector by providing modern infrastructure.

He said that to set up new industrial units in the state, government has identified land that would be handed over to newcomers, so that industry could grow rapidly.

Project costing above Rs 5 crore to be approved on state headquarters Chandigarh level, wherein all mandatory approvals to be cleared within a month's period.

Joshi assured the gathering that in future, industry in the state would grow on a war-footing level, as the government would extend all help to entrepreneurs.

Punjab government has recently extended invitation to multinational companies in Punjab to bring their setups and invitation was warmly accepted by the leading companies of home and abroad.

He said the Punjab government has recently signed MoU (memorandum of understanding) with a German-based company, wherein four big technical institutions were being setup in the state and one technical institution would be setup here.

With this, employment generation in Punjab on a large scale could be expected.

He said that new job oriented courses at various technical institutions being run by the government in Punjab to be introduced.
